Alice Madness Returns: How to Use a Free Camera for Screenshots

Want to take better screenshots? Looking to use a free camera for some snazzy pics? Look no further.

Requirements

– The game
– 3 minutes of your time
– A controller (when in free cam mode, the mouse doesn’t move the camera)

DefaultInput.ini

1 – Go to the game directory

steamapps\common\Alice Madness Returns\AliceGame\Config

2 – Open the file DefaultInput.ini in Notepad

3 – Find the section [Engine.PlayerInput] (it’s at the top)
4 – Under that section, somewhere with all the other lines, add the line

+Bindings=(Name="NumPadFive",Command="FreeCamera")

5 – Save the file and exit Notepad

AliceInput.ini

1 – Go to the directory

Documents\My Games\Alice Madness Returns\AliceGame\Config

2 – Open the file AliceInput.ini in Notepad

3 – Find the section [Engine.PlayerInput] (at the top again)
4 – Same as before, copy the line with other lines, but note the line is different, removing the ‘+’ at the start

Bindings=(Name="NumPadFive",Command="FreeCamera")

5 – Save the file and exit Notepad

You can now play the game, and press ‘numpad 5’ to toggle free camera on and off. Again, a controller is highly recommended, and even with one it’s still buggy (but better than no free cam).

QA

Q: Why did I need to edit two files?
A: If you don’t edit DefaultInput.ini, the game will delete the line out of AliceInput.ini. And if you don’t edit AliceInput.ini, there’s no guarantee the game will add the line to it.

Thanks to YoungGunner360 for his great guide, all credit to his effort. you can also read the original guide from Steam Community. enjoy the game.
