Far Cry 2 PC Cheats (Save Files Editing)

An easy way to modify your Far Cry 2 save file to accommodate degenerate game-play. This Also works with Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

Locate Game Saves

The first step is locating Far Cry 2 save game. The default location of this file is: This PC>Documents>My Games>Far Cry 2. Once inside this folder, open “GamerProfile” with notepad.

Edit Game Save

Once you open GamerProfile with notepad

scroll past <SoundProfile … /><RenderProfile … />, and <NetworkProfile … /> until you get to <GameProfile … />

Now that you found <GameProfile … /> click inside the brackets, after the word GamerProfile, add arguments that allow you to turn on cheats.

For Example; turning on God mode, infinite ammo, and unlimited reliability would read as the following:

<GameProfile GodMode=”1″ UnlimitedAmmo=”1″ UnlimitedReliability=”1″ …>

Don’t forget to save
You can also edit the properties of “GamerProfile” to make it “read-only” after you add cheats. I have not done that, since “GamerProfile” controls settings I might want to change in game. But changing “GamerProfile” to “read-only” would make it so Far Cry doesn’t erase your cheats on a computer restart or the like, since read-only makes it so the file can only be read, and not edited.

List of Cheats

Here is the list of cheats you can use inside <GameProfile …/> where the “1” argument turns on the cheat, and the “0” argument turns them off.

  • GodMode=”1″ (never die)
  • UnlimitedAmmo=”1″ (never run out of ammo)
  • UnlimitedReliability=”1″ (Reliability doesn’t go down)
  • AllWeaponsUnlock=”1″ (Unlocks base game weapons)
  • SkipIntroMovies=”1″ (skips splash screens when starting the game]

Again use “1” to turn on a cheat, and “0” to turn it off. Also deleting the individual cheats completely turns off the cheat.

Limitations

-Unlimited ammo does not account for Grenades nor Molotovs.

-Unlimited reliability only makes it so reliability doesn’t go down, if the gun you are holding is in bad enough condition, it will still jam even with unlimited reliability.

-AllWeaponsUnlock may interfere with DLC weapons in unwanted ways.

-Having Cheats on before tutorial ends may prevent you from completing the tutorial.

-It is recommended you back up any save games that don’t have cheats enabled, to allow for restoration if any unwanted behavior results from enabling cheats.

Also Available in Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon

I have seen a few options for enabling cheats in Far Cry 2. Lots of the guides say to turn on -devmode, but that seems to be misinformation. There is no “devmode” in Far Cry 2, only in Far Cry (og)

The second option to enable cheats is to do launch arguments(ie add ‘-GameProfile_GodMode 1’ to the game’s launch arguments) , which, in the end, does the exact same thing that this guide does. However, personally, I think it is cleaner and more organised to edit the save file and be done with it, than it is to put launch arguments in the game’s properties.

It is also worth noting that you can turn on cheats in Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon using this same method.
“Documents\My Games\Far Cry 3” > GamerProfile
“Documents\My Games\Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon” > GamerProfile

One thing to keep in mind is there is no reliability in Far Cry 3, so that argument is not needed.

Now go, and be a dirty cheater in a single-player story. There is no shame.

Thanks to zackerie for his great guide, all credit to his effort. you can also read the original guide from Steam Community. enjoy the game.
