FOREWARNED: Quick Guide for the New Eternal Banishment in V1.3

This is a brief overview of the new Eternal Banishment ritual. This guide goes over the general requirements for the ritual which includes what’s required and general steps to complete the ritual. This guide won’t contain variations of puzzles or environments until a later date.

Expectations And Understanding This Guide

This guide isn’t for determining the Mejai, gathering evidence, or any core mechanic instruction. This guide assumes that one is familiar with the aforementioned material. This goes over the strategy for obtaining what is required and how to start/complete the Banishment & Ritual process.

This is still a WIP, any updates will be added to the change log. Guide was published on 6/7/2022.

If there are any issues, concerns, or inaccuracies please comment below with what you believe needs to be changed.

Guide is for 25.6

Material Requirements For Starting the Ritual/Puzzles

Before we start, lets review the items and that are required to start the Banishment process.

Many items are required to start the Banishment ritual. One scenario, although unusual, requires you to obtain three keys to access a puzzle which will grant you the Ushabti upon successful completion.

Required Material

  • Jars (4) – You must have all four of the Jars to start the ritual.
  • Relic (1) – The Relic is required to start the ritual. Instead of placing the Relic in the back of the jeep you will need to take it to the ritual table. This will be explained in further detail later.
  • Ushabti (1) – The Ushabti is the final piece required for the ritual, the Ushabti cannot be achieved in the main level of the environment. You must descend into the lower levels of the environment and complete a puzzle to achieve these. Again, this will be explained in greater detail further on.

Required Material to obtain Ushabti in certain scenarios

  • Gold Key
  • Silver Key
  • Bronze Key

Canopic Jars

This section will give a brief overview of the Canopic Jars. The Canopic Jars are a major part of the ritual process and obtaining them is arguably the most time consuming part of the the expedition.

Four Jars are required for the Ritual Process. The Jars are scattered across the main level on the tomb.

Jars are typically found in crates/cases that look like this.
Opening the crates/cases (default “E”) will typically reveal a Canopic Jar. Click “E” again to add the jar into your inventory, if you don’t see your inventory, click “I” and it should pop up in the lower left hand portion of your screen. (Careful! Not all crates/cases contain a Canopic Jar. There are only Four Jars per map and more than Four crates/cases)
Some rooms/areas that you can find Canopic Jars are

  • Spike Rooms (Crate/Case)
  • Acid Trap/Snake Room (Crate/Case)
  • Dart Rooms (Crate/Case)
  • Prison Room (Indicated by the Slave/Prison levers) (Crate/Case)
  • Treasury Room (Indicated by the Treasury levers) (Crate/Case)
  • Across the Spike Pit (Crate/Case)
  • Inner Tomb (Room w/ Relic) (Crate/Case)
  • Underwater Corridor (Oasis) (Crate/Case)
  • Even out in the Open! (No Crate/Case)

Some personal tips for the Canopic Jars

  • Although common, Canopic Jars may not spawn in the inner tomb, ensure that you’ve searched all rooms before assuming that the remainder of the Canopic Jars are in the inner tomb. This mentality will save you trouble in the long run.
  • Placing the located Canopic Jars by the lower level gate can help you and your team keep track of the amount obtained. In the unfortunate event that ones dies to a trap, enemy, or Mejai you wont have to go on a search and recovery side mission.

Relic

The Relic is another item that is required for the Banishment Ritual. The relic which can be found in the inner tomb once correctly selecting the Mejai is the second required piece. If you need more information on the Relic, please see the Quickstart Guide or Wiki Page.

Ushabti Figurine

The Ushabti figurine is the third and final piece that is required for the Banishment ritual. The Ushabti figurine varies from the other two required pieces as it cannot be found on the upper/main level of the environment. The Ushabti figurine is obtained one you complete a puzzle/challenge in the lower lever of the tomb. For this, we will refer back to it as the B1 area. We will go more in-depth on the process later, this section is devoted to the item exclusively.

Once you have completed the puzzle or challenge, a crate will lower form the the ceiling containing the Ushabti Figurine. Press “E” to collect the figurine,

Keys

The Keys are an requirement for the Banishment Ritual, IF, they spawn. On any map, any size, there is a chance that three Keys may spawn. If they do spawn, ALL three Keys must be collected to proceed with the Puzzle. There are multiple puzzles that spawn, and there is only one that requires Keys.

The Three Keys Are

  • The Gold Key
  • The Silver Key
  • The Bronze Key

The Keys can spawn in several places. Typically, the Keys spawn in the crates/cases, or on the concrete stone. When spawning in crates/cases, they don’t have to be accompanied by a Canopic Jar. They can spawn by themselves.

These Keys are very small, and hardly reflective, so keep a good eye out. Unfortunately, the Keys can also spawn inside the gate to the lower levels, as shown by the “Bronze Key” picture. Later in the guide it will show how these Keys can be used and what purpose they serve.

Getting Started With The Banishment Process

Assuming that you’ve read the prerequisites for completing the banishment process and have all the material required, you are now ready to enter the lower levels.

After CORRECTLY selecting the Mejai and grabbing the Relic plus any Canopic Jars and Keys you will need to find the blue lever. The Blue Lever will spawn once the the Mejai Manifests regardless of whether you select it correctly or not. If you incorrectly select the Mejai and pull the blue lever, the Tomb will open so that you may escape, but the access to lower levels will remain closed. Choose Carefully!

Once you pull the Blue lever, access to the lower levels will be granted. The correct gateway will be labeled with a Blue Eye. Once this gateway opens, you are ready to proceed. *Many different variations of this door exist, I will try to add pictures of all the variations but it will take some time*
Once you proceed down the steps there are two sub-levels. We will call the sub-levels S1 and S2. The first sub-level consists of a Challenge/Puzzle you will see a split of in the stairs, typically following the pathway ahead of you will take you to the puzzle, while taking a right will take you to sub-level two.

Going Forward is the S1, Challenge/Puzzle Area

Going to the Right is S2, Ritual Altar Portals

You will then need to complete the challenge or Puzzle to gain access the Ushabti figurine (See Ushabti section for more information) to proceed. There will be a standalone guide coming soon with all of the puzzles and how to complete them. To activate/start the puzzle you will need to push “E” the blue button.

**Special Circumstance**In the event of the Keys puzzle, match the correct keys to the corresponding door. There are three Keys that go to three separate doors. When you’ve matched the correct Key to the door, push “E” to put the key into the lock (ensure you are holding the key.) This is the only puzzle that requires the use of Keys. See Key Section for more information.**

Once you grab the Ushabti, run back up the stairs and turn Left and the split (when going down turn Right) to descend towards the Ritual Altar. Ensure that you have all Four Jars, Relic, and Ushabti

When you progress down the stairs you will see a table that shows you what is requires, but at this point we already know and have everything needed.

Ritual Guide Table

When you head down the correct pathway you will see a Portal ((There a few different variations will add all shortly) You must stand in the Portal for a few seconds to be sent to the Ritual Room (Be patient, this takes a couple seconds.))
Entry Portal

Congratulations! You are now in the Ritual Hall! In front of you will see an altar with some fillable slots. The Four Row Slots in the middle are for Canopic Jar. The left slot is for the Relic. The right slot is for the Ushabti figurine. You place these items in their appropriate places by pressing “E” on the outlined spot.

View From The Right (Ushabti Placement)
Once you have placed all items required for the Ritual you must light all four candles at the four corners of the altar. It is advisable to bring a torch and lighter, if you didn’t bring one there is a level one torch to the left of the altar on the ground. Once you light the candles, you and your teammates (or you if solo) need to gather around the altar. Once the ritual starts you will need to protect the ritual altar. There are a few different variations of the room and enemies that may spawn. Most notably the mummies, these mummies react to your torch and burn upon contact. The snakes can be warded off with the torch as can the crocodiles.

Upon defeating all enemies, you will be returned to the lobby automatically with a nice EXP and Gold Package! Congrats on completing your first Banishment!
