Godhood: Religion and Tenet Guide

This guide covers the religions in Godhood and includes a full list of all religion and tenet developments. Updated for early access update #4, Newfound Shores.

 

Religions

Religions determine the core values of your team of disciples and are the basic distinguishing aspect of a playthrough in Godhood. They convey bonuses, what classes you can play as, and how you will develop your disciples. In addition, each religion has a unique disciple class.

Presently, there are 6 religions available to select with a final one expected to be available in the near future.

War

Aspire to Valor

  • Valorous disciples will be recruitable.
    Valorous disciples have totems with a talent for Health.
Blood Bonds

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Blood Bonds buff!
    +25% damage to Ancestral abilities.
    +50% addition chance for initiates from savage.
Arena

  • Unlock the Colosseum.
    The Colloseum allows your disciples to learn one of the unique War passives
Honor in the Greater Good!

  • “Honor Duel” will occur after a disciple performs a prparation ritual.
    Can trigger once between missions. Grants a disciple a Health buff and intercept physical for the next sacrament.
Purge the Weak

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Purge the Weak buff!
    +25% damage to Dark abilities.
    +50% addition chance for initiates from savage.
Honor in Personal Glory!

  • “Fierce Duel” will occur after a disciple performs a preparation ritual.
    Grants a disciple a Cunning and crit chance buff for the next sacrament.
Take War Captives

  • “Hard-working Captives” will sometimes occur. +100 Ritual Offerings Tribute.
  • “Captives’ Uprising” will very rarely occur.
Write the Honor Laws

  • Max Crystal Skulls increase by 2.
  • New Initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Code of Honor buff!.
    +25% damage to Divine and Life abilities.
    +50% addition chance for initiates from Valorous.
Rise as God of Savegry

  • Unlock the Temple of Savagery.
    The Temple of War provides a powerful new miracle which raises Might and Cunning.
Evolve into God of Valor

  • Unlock the Temple of Valor.
    The Temple of War provides a powerful new miracle which raises Might and Health.
Convert Barbarian Nomads

  • “Convert Barbarian Nomads” occurs.
Install Order of Paladins

  • Craft disciple relic: Paladin’s Blade.
    Grants +20% Health & Cunning.

    +15% Morale Criit Chance.
Protect the weak

  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Protect the Weak buff!
    Increased chance to block attacks for your allies.
    +50% addition chance for initiates from “Altruists”.
Establish Oratory

    Grants +20% Charisma & Knowledge.
Advocate Intimate Cooperation

  • Craft disciple relic: Open Hands.
    Grants +3 Devotion & Knowledge to all disciples.

    The Temple of Reason provides a powerful new miracle which raises Charisma nd Knowledge.
Evolve into Goddess of Altruism

  • Unlock the Temple of Altruism.
    The Temple of Pease provides a powerful new miracle which raises Charisma and Devotion.

  • Craft disciple relic: Thorny Rose.
    Chance to use “Jealous Strike” wheneverr an ally is hit by a physical attack.
    “Jealous Strike” deals Life physical damage and scales on Cunning (Minor).
Seek Relaxation

  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Well-Being buff!
    +25% damage to Life abilities.
    +50% addition chance for initiates from Hedonists.
Mysterious Attraction

  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Mysterious Love buff!
    +20% damage from Sorcery abilities.
    Disciple more l ikely to learn Socrdery abilities.
    +25% addition chance for initiates from Passionate.
Release Primal Desires

  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Primal Desires buff!
    +25% damage from Nature abilities.

  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Better Self buff!
    +20% damage from Grace abilities.
    Disciple more likely tot learn Grace abilities.

Grow into God of Pleasure

  • Unlock the Temple of Pleasure.
    The Temple of Lust provides a powerful new miracle wich raises Charisma and Cunning.
Evolve into God of Passion

  • Unlock the Temple of Passion.
    The Temple of Lust provides a powerful new miracle which raises Charisma and Devotion.
Night-Time Pleasures

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • Craft disciple relic: Greate book of Bodily Bliss.
    Life and Natures abilities gain +20% damage.
Lover’s Day

  • Once every few years “Lover’s Day” occurs.
    Grants a disciple a Charisma buff and a small Devotion debuff.

  • “Revel in Ecstasy” will occur after each coming of age.
    Grants all disciples a big faith buff until the next sacrament.

Tame the Abyss

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 1.
  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Gaze into the Abyss Buff!
    +25% damage for all Dark abilities.
    +50% addition chance for initiates from Wise.
Love Marriages

  • A disciple will go into marriage when reaching an age of 25, allowing it to attract a suitor and a stat boost.
    The Disciple will always have to option to chase its’ true love. The chance of success depends on Charisma, but on success the disciple will gain bonus Devotion and permanent Faith.
The Good of Man

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 1.
  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Find Virtue buff!
    +25% damage for all Divine abilities.
    +50% addition chance for initiates from Wise.
Fasting

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 1.
  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Fasting buff!
    +5 Physical armor and +5 Morale Armor.
    +50% addition chance for initiates from Pure.
Awakening

  • After a disciple performs a meditation miracle, all rituals cost no ritual offerings that day.
Grow into God of Purity

  • Unlock the Temple of Purity.
    The Temple of Purity provides a powerful new miracle wich raises Health and Devotion.
Ascend as God of Serenity

  • Unlock the Temple of Serenity.
    The Temple of Serenity provides a powerful new miracle which raises Health and Knowledge.
Unsullied

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • Whenever a disciple starts a sacrament with full health, it will gain +5xp.
Initiate Hermits

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • Craft disciple relic: Hermit’s Seat.
    Grants +20% Devotion & Knowledge.

  • “Establish Patron Saint” will occur after a disciple succeeds in a sacrament 7 times.
    Allows you to invet material to give a big stat boost on all future initiates.
Communion

  • New initiates will now have a25% chance to gain the Confirmed buff!
    +2 Faith per other disciples.
Mend Our Spirits

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • Grant ritual offerings on sacrament loss.

  • Gain the “Doom Sayers” upgrade.
    +10% crit chance for all Dark disciples.
End is Nigh

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • “The End is Nigh” occurs when a disciple returns from a mission with 50% or less hp remaining.
    Permanenttly grants +2 Might. Stacks 5 times.
Mind Reading

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • Gain the “Mind Readers” uupgrade.
    +5% evade chance for all disciples.
Summon Aberrations

  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Aberrant Summoning buff!
    +20% damage on Sorcery abilities. Disciples are more likely to learn Sorcery abilities.
    +25% addition chance for initiates from Chaotic.
Power of Secrets

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • Gain the “Power of Secrets” upgrade.
    +5% morale damage for all disciples.
Mutilate Heretics

  • New initiates will now have a 20% chance to gain the Mutilate Heretics buff!
    +20% damage on Overpower abilities. Disciple is more likely to learn Overpower abilities.
    +25% addition chance for initiates from Chaotic.
Deity of Secrets

  • Unlock the Temple of Secrecy.
    The Temple of Secrecy provides a powerful new miracle which raises Charisma and Knowledge.

  • Unlock the Temple of Chaos.
    The Temple of Chaos provides a powerful new miracle which raises Knowledge and Might.
Enigmatic Children

  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Pact of Secrecy buff!
    +10% defy chance.
    +50% addition chance for initiates from Secretive.
Erratic Teachings

  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Erratic buff!
    Small chance to randomly use “Erratic Violence”.
    “Erratic Violence” deal physical damage based on Might (Basic) Tags: Overpower
    +50% addition chance for initiates from Chaotic.

Tenets

Tenets are secondary trees that can be used to customize your religion further. Similar to the religion developments, they require development sparks. This means you will have to decide if you want to spend points in either the religion development or a tenet development.

Animism

Animism

  • “Nature Spirits” occurs after performing a Hereder’s Hut, Hunter’s Lodge, or Farmlands Miracle.
    Grants Materials based on the disciple’s Health.
Hallowed Tree

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • Unlock the Hallowed Tree
    When placed, +10% Nature damage. Can be further upgraded.
Earth Spirits

  • When the “Nature Spirits” occurs, you’ll have the option to gain xp for all disciples instead.
Exalt Cats

    +2 Cunning for the following miracles:

  • Herder’s Hut
  • Farmlands
  • Hunter’s Lodge
Exalt Dogs

    +2 Might and +1 Health for the following miracles:

  • Herder’s Hut
  • Farmlands
  • Hunter’s Lodge
Animal Worship

    +2 Health and +1 Cunning for the following miracles:

  • Herder’s Hut
  • Farmlands
  • Hunter’s Lodge
Raised in Wilderness

  • New Initiates will now have a 30% chance to gain the Raised in Wilderness buff!
    Small chance to randomly use “Erratic Violence”.
    “Erratic Violence” deals physical damage based on Might (Basic)
    +10 addition chance for initiates from Strong-Bodied.
Funeral Rites

Funeral Rites

  • “Funeral” occurs whenever a disciple dies. Pick a successor who receives the Legacy buff.
    Legacy: +15% buff to the highest stat of the dying disciple for the next 5 sacraments.
Towards the Afterlife

  • Gain the “afterlife Guidance” upgrade.
    +10% damage for the Chieftain and Rage Prophet.
End of the Journey

  • Gain the “Oblivion” uppgrade.
    +10% damage for the Weaver and Harbinger.
Buruial Grounds

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • Unlock the Burial Grounds.
    Makes the Legacy buff permanent.
Memento Mori

  • New initiates will now have a 25% chance to gain the Venerable buff!
    +1 Knowledge for every 5 years in age.
Cannibalize the Dead

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • Unlock the Consuming Grounds.
    Doubles the Legacy buff’s effect.
Impose Cremation

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • Makes the Legacy buff affect all disciples.

Human Sacrifice

Human Sacrifice

  • Unlock the Sacrificial Temple.
    One Disciple can organize a human sacrifice and become the Master of Sacrifice
    Chance to perform “Demand Sacrifice” whenever an ally uses an Ancestral or Divine ability.
    “Demand Sacrifice” deals Ancestral morale damage that scales on Devotion and Might.
Violent Sacrifice

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • +1 Might scaling for the “Demand Sacrifice” ability.
Drink Blood

  • Max Crystal Skulls increased by 2.
  • +1 Devotion scaling for the “Demand Sacrifice” ability.
Darkened Heart

  • The Master of Ceremony gains +5 Might and +5 Devotion.
Beating Heart

  • The Master of Ceremonoy gains resistance vs. Life.
Ceremonial Daggers

  • The Master of Ceremony gains “Demand Sacrifice”.
    Style: Fear

Additional Notes

Developments

Developments are one of the primary methods to customize a religion. These can additional bonuses and attributes for your disciples. Progressing down the development tree allows you to unlock more powerful bonuses. Some developments are mutually exclusive meaning you can only pick one. These are identified by a red exclamation point in between two lines.


You can only pick one and your choice is permanent.

Sparks

Investing in developments costs development sparks and each one costs progressively more. Sparks can be earned by completing Sacraments and sometimes through other means.
