Mr. Prepper: “Speedrunner” Achievement Guide

This guide is composed of bullet points plan of relevant tasks, ordered and separated by days. The objective is to complete the game under 30 days, in order to get the achievement “Speedrunner”. It is not a full step-by-step guide, since it leaves out some details such as what equipement and resources to carry, or when to eat and sleep.

The Plan

Time to make an escape plan! Here’s an inspiration…

This is a 16-day plan, but the randomness of loot and events (such as the postman missing) can cause some delays.

The plan is layed out as follow:

  • Task (requirements) [rewards]
  • |+| Removing this object will raise suspicion in agent report – proceed with caution.
  • |*| Do this task according to time, status and resources available.

Recommendations

  • You should be familiarized with the various game mechanics, items and icons. Ideally, this should be at least a second playthrough.
  • Play in easy mode.
  • In settings, check “Always run” and uncheck “Show tips”.
  • Skip the tutorial (this is crucial).

Tips

  • Several items have weight 0. These can be carried at all times for convenience:
    – All raw materials (wood, metal, stone, etc.)
    – Wolf pelts, tails and
    – Knifes
    – Bullets
    – Blueberries
    – Mining passes and access card
    – Levers
  • Building rooms and executing countdown phases do not replenish preparedness once finalized. Keep this in mind when making the decision to perform those tasks.
  • If in need of preparedness, trade, water plants, eat, cook or plant seeds.
  • If the next task requires disassembling, stamina can be empty as long as preparedness is full enough.
  • Sell items when you need money, preparedness or to increase trust level (essential to buy round metal boxes and water tanks from Sergey and useful to buy electronics from Joe).
  • You can stay awake up until 3:30AM. Try to head to bed at 3AM.
  • At any stop in the desert, fill up the tank with fuel you may find, so it does not weight in your inventory.
  • You can pause while tutorials messages appear on screen (like the one after examining the escape plan the first time), so time will not pass while you skip the messages.
  • You can also pause while trading, as soon as you reach the mailbox, and when organizing your inventory.
  • If you are tired and will do a short activity that does not involve crafting (such as visiting an NPC or placing objects in the bunker), it is best to take a very short nap to remove the status effect.
  • Avoid disassembling resources unecessarily. Disassembling can often be done late at night or when waiting for events.

Trading

Important items to buy regularly:

  • Stone – needed until enough is gathered to execute Countdown Phase 1 or when stashing glass for the workbench upgrade level 3.
  • Fuel – needed until enough is gathered for Fort Observer (that’s at least 44 for all required rides).
  • Bullets – very handy in late stages of the game.
  • Metal boxes – for the large initial quantity of metal needed and to increase Sergey trust, so you can buy round metal boxes and water tanks for plastic.
  • Round metal boxes – they disassemble into metal and plastic
  • Phones – needed for electronics, late game.
  • Water tanks – you will probably need to buy one or two of these for the last Countdown Phase.

Notes

|1| Go down into your first room, then grab the ladder from that floor and place it down to gain access to the room below. Go down the ladder and place two soil patches on the floor. Go up and place the remaining soil patches. Check the following image reference:

|2| It is possible to retrieve the hydrogen from the mine level -5 without warm clothes (skipping the workbench upgrade), but it can be risky depending on the generated mine layout and player experience. If choosing that option, one does not need to purchase stone or glass after completing countdown phase 1, collect glasses, wolf skins, nor disassemble 2 extra backpacks at Fort Observer.

|3| Build the rooms following the layout for optimal time/resource management:

|4| Up to 6 planters can be placed in a double room. With a specfic light placement, all planters’ light meters can be maxed out:
