Ni no Kuni™ II: Revenant Kingdom – How to Transfer a Save File between Computers or Steam Accounts

This guide aims to show you how to manually transfer your save file between different steam accounts or computers.

1. Backing up the original save file
First of all, to find and back up the original save file.

You can find Ni No Kuni 2 save file at:
Steam library folder > userdata > a folder named after your Steam3ID > 589360

in other words basically:
C:\Program Files (x86)\steam/userdata/xxxxxxx/589360/remote

in which “xxxxxxx” will be the steamID number for your account (if you only ever used one steam account in this computer there will only be the one).

You can copy the whole 589360 folder (this number represents Ni No Kuni 2) just in case.
Paste the folder at an external location (desktop, cloud, flash drive etc.).

2. Creating a new save file on another account / computer
If you are using the same HD on the same computer, uninstall Ni No Kuni 2 and reinstall it. Alternatively, simply delete the contents of the 589360 folder at steam/userdata/xxxxxxx/589360.

Now, you have to start a new game and play it all the way through the first manual save point (the blue shrine). This should take you about 15 minutes or so if you played the game before. Save the game to the first slot and then exit it.

3. Transfering your save file to your new install
Finally, you can use the save files you backed up on step 1 and restore them to your new Ni No Kuni install.

Go to the 589360 folder you have backed up. Inside the remote folder, copy both the AUTOSAVE and USERDATA00 folders.

Now, once again go to the userdata folder in your new Ni No Kuni 2 installation in steam/userdata/xxxxxxx/589360/remote

If you are using another account on the same computer, the SteamID (“xxxxxxx”) will be diferent from before.

Find Ni No Kuni 2’s 589360 folder, open the remote folder and paste your backed up AUTOSAVE and USERDATA00 folders inside it. Overwrite any contents. Don’t touch any other files.

After that, you should be able to start the game and choose Continue and your original save file should be there.
