Wrench: Tier & XP Progression (Unlocking) Guide

This guide is a comprehensive list of everything you can unlock while playing Wrench. I have done my best to accurately represent everything, as I unlocked it. I hope this will answer some of your questions as to what you can look forward to in the future, as you progress in your Wrench experience.

SPOILER WARNING: This guide may spoil your experience – if you want to be pleasantly surprised by unlocking things throughout your gameplay, please do not read this guide.

Getting Started

There are two ways to begin a new game – Normal mode, and Expert mode. The only differences are the beginning Tier / XP level, and starting cash.

This guide’s scope will:

  • cover what is unlocked through Normal mode & Expert mode gameplay progression
  • note where the Expert mode career picks up in the progression chain

This guide’s scope will not:

  • list everything that is pre-unlocked when starting a Normal mode career
  • cover every item in detail as to what it is/does

There are several different types of things to unlock:

  • Apps – expand the functionality of your tablet
  • Job Variety – sets of tasks customers want completed on their cars
  • Service Manual Entries – instructions in the in-game manual for job procedures
  • Skills – allow your mechanic to perform new operations
  • Equipment – upgrades and consumables for your garage that enable certain tasks
  • Tools – the hand-held items used to work on the car
  • Parts – items you install into cars to fix / upgrade them

Please note some of the XP totals may be off slightly, give or take 200 XP. The reason being is most jobs do not give an even number of XP, plus bonuses are factored in at job completion, so it’s extremely hard to hit exact targets. I’ve done my best to guestimate the approximate amounts of XP required for each unlock. Your XP numbers may differ slightly from mine, so please think of these numbers as general guidelines, not an exact rules.

Progression List: Part 1 (Normal Mode)

This chart depicts the approximate Tier and XP level required for each unlock, the name of the unlock, and its category / type. This is arranged in gameplay progression order.
