Auction Introduction

Auction is a new mechanic introduced in v2.4 of the game. In Chapter 1 of the Episode “The Lost Tome and the Silver, Unfading Flower”, you gain access to Iota District in Elzion where the Auction House is located. Bidding takes place in the form of Auction Battles, where you are to discourage the opponent from bidding by depleting their Motivation. Both you and the opponent start with 100 Motivation and 2 (out of 10) Willpower. Willpower is consumed by special Auction Skills. You gain 2 at the start of each turn.

Different moves have different effects on the opponent’s Motivation and the bid price. Try to win the Auction Battle quickly before the price gets too high. If your winning bid is higher than expected price, you will get a “Disappointing” rank; getting par or a little under will get you “Good”, and getting a great discount from expected gives you “Excellent”. The price changes the images of the coins on the bid display at the top of the screen. Finishing with 1 stack of coins is “Excellent”.

There are 5 skills you can learn in addition to the 4 you start with. The condition for a chance to obtain a new skill is to get the opponent to display the skill, and win the auction with a Good or Excellent result. The auction skills you can learn from the opponents are:

Additional Considerations For General Auction Battling

The following rotation to be effective during Auction Battles:

  • T1: Breakthrough Move
  • T2: Standard Move
  • T3: All-in Move
  • T4: Repeat until the fight is over (which is around one more rotation)

Some things to note though, if you’re opponent has a small amount of Motivation but Standard Move won’t take all that away, just use Breakthrough Move and then Standard Move. Chances are the opponent may recover some Motivation and it will cause the fight to drag on for even more time.

  • Strange Madame may lock your skills towards the end so Standard Move should be enough but use Hold Ground if need be.
  • Impatient Man will also bring you to low Motivation but as long as you just keep to the rotation you should be fine (Use Hold Ground if not).
  • If you get stuck with the Prudent Lady using “Guard” or “Super Vigilance” constantly, use Pacify to clear her status, then All-in Move or start a new Breakthrough cycle.

The rest of the opponents shouldn’t be too much trouble with this rotation.
